ACHE OT Class of 2027

FORT SMITH, AR — The Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) recently hosted its annual DRAFT Day for Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OT) students. “DRAFT” stands for Designated Reveal of Academic Field Training, and this year, 23 students from the ACHE OT Class of 2027 learned where they will complete their Level II Fieldwork Experiences.

Held at the ACHE Research Institute Health & Wellness Center (RIHWC), the event was filled with anticipation and celebration as students gathered to discover their fieldwork placements. Each student received their assigned sites, where they will develop essential hands-on skills crucial to becoming confident and competent occupational therapists.

As students opened their beautifully wrapped boxes to reveal their placements, the room burst into cheers, flying confetti, and excited conversation. Many expressed a mix of eagerness and nerves as they prepare to begin their fieldwork rotations in clinical settings across the United States. Each Level II Fieldwork experience lasts three months, totaling six months of immersive clinical learning.

Jennifer Moore, PhD, Dean of the ACHE School of Occupational Therapy, shared, “DRAFT Day remains one of the most meaningful milestones in our program. It marks a student’s transition from classroom learning to real-world clinical application, and we’re proud to celebrate that moment with them.” Moore added, “ACHE OT continues to build a strong reputation thanks to our dedicated experiential team. Their expertise and national connections help ensure our students have impactful, high-quality fieldwork experiences.”

DRAFT Day represents a pivotal step in each student’s journey, bringing them closer to their goal of becoming skilled occupational therapists equipped to improve the lives of others. As the Class of 2027 prepares for this new chapter, the faculty and staff at ACHE applaud their hard work and wish them success in their upcoming fieldwork experiences.

The ACHE Occupational Therapy program remains committed to preparing students for excellence in the field, and DRAFT Day continues to highlight that dedication year after year.
